Composed for ensemble neo with a first performance at Konserthuset in Stockholm, Grünewaldsalen, 22 May 2026 with Sara Hammarström, alto flute, Magnus Holmander, bass clarinet, Magdalena Meitzner, percussion, Mårten Landström, piano, Brusk Zanganeh, violin, Damon Taheri, viola and Mats Olofsson, violoncell, together with B Tommy Andersson, conductor.
The piece is called Camera, 'room' or 'chamber', as the music relates – albeit obliquely and subtly – to the transformative spaces described by the Romanian author Mircea Cartarescu. In his novel Solenoid, he describes a house containing an infinite number of rooms. The rooms are in a constant state of flux, never fully recognisable and constantly shifting in relation to one another.There seems to be no sure way of knowing which direction to take to reach the desired destination. Rooms suddenly appear elsewhere, making it impossible to find one's way. Similarly, the rooms in Camera are transformed, either through gradual, almost imperceptible shifts and displacements or sudden, dramatic changes.
First performance at 20.30 on Friday 22 May 2026 at Grünewaldsalen at Konserthuset in Stockholm.
